How Young is Too Young for Plastic Surgery? From the Desk of Dr. Sanders

    Last updated 10 hours ago

I frequently hear the question, “How old is too old for plastic surgery?” I have covered that issue in a previous blog. The flipside to that query is the question, “How young is too young for plastic surgery?”

From a general perspective, if the surgery is reconstructive in nature - that is to improve healthy or correct a severe deformity  - a person is never too young to have surgery.

If you are considering specific procedures, like breast reductions, nasal surgery or breast reconstruction, age is a factor.

    Watch: Lessons on Liposuction

Last updated 1 day 9 hours ago

Studies by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery show that liposuction is the most popular plastic surgery next to breast augmentations and eyelid lifts.

This CBS video clip provides an overview of liposuction surgery. Liposuction is commonly performed on both men and women alike, as it can create firmer body contours for individuals struggling to lose weight with diet and exercise alone. Check out this full video for more information on the areas commonly targeted by liposuction.

Find out how you can benefit from liposuction or a similar body contouring plastic surgery procedure by contacting Dr. George Sanders at (818) 528-6125 today! You can also visit us online for more information on our services.

Are You a Good Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?

    Last updated 7 days ago

Body contouring procedures are among some of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures performed today. One of the most popular body contouring procedures is the tummy tuck. Also known as an abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck is a plastic surgery procedure designed to remove excess fat and skin to create a firmer abdominal profile. Read on for more information on your candidacy for a tummy tuck.

As with all cosmetic surgery procedures, ideal candidates should be in good general health, non-smokers, with realistic expectations regarding the results. It is also important that candidates are committed to maintaining their post-surgical results through regular exercise and proper eating habits. Patients undergoing abdominoplasty should also be finished having children—female patients who are considering future pregnancies may be advised to postpone their procedure.

A tummy tuck may be right for you if you are suffering from:

    • Sagging or excessive skin in the abdominal area.
    • A protruding abdomen that is disproportional to the rest of your body.
    • Excess fatty tissue that is localized in the abdomen.
    • Abdominal muscles that have separated or weakened.

A good way to determine if a tummy tuck is your best option is to understand the procedure itself. After administering general anesthesia, your cosmetic surgeon will typically make a horizontal incision along the pubic crease. Individuals with loose skin above the navel may require a secondary incision so that the skin can be pulled down. Your surgeon will then remove excess fat and skin before repairing any weakened abdominal muscles. The skin is then re-draped for a natural looking appearance before the incision is closed with sutures.

Dr. George Sanders performs tummy tucks using an incision that is hidden within the patient’s clothing lines. Unlike other surgeons, Dr. Sanders can perform tummy tucks without the need for drain tubes. For more information on our plastic surgery procedures, contact our Encino office at (818) 528-6125.

Laser Skin Resurfacing: For Younger Looking Skin

    Last updated 14 days ago

Our skin loses elasticity as we age, leading to the development of fine lines and wrinkles.

This video explains how laser skin resurfacing can improve your skin. Laser skin resurfacing can remove brown spots, reduce the prominence of fine-to-medium lines, and tighten your skin for a fresher, more youthful appearance. Ablative lasers remove the upper layer of skin, while fractional technology targets smaller areas of skin without the need for downtime. Watch this full video for more information.

Board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Encino’s own Dr. George Sanders is devoted to helping patients improve the look and feel of their skin through a number of non-invasive procedural methods, including laser skin resurfacing. After a facelift and breast reduction/lift, I would give Dr. Sanders 10 stars if I could. He is perfect in every way. Both procedures were painless (I am not kidding - no pain!). Recovery and healing went smoothly, and Dr. Sanders was there every step of the way. He is both supremely skilled and a wonderful human being. Highly recommended! More
